Trump Immigration Policy: Adviser Promises ‘100% Deportation rate’ at Border

Donald Trump’s political adviser, Stephen Miller, has promised a “100% perfect deportation rate,” as he is embroiled in a war of words with billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban over immigration policy.
The issue is central in this year’s presidential race, with the candidates offering starkly different approaches. Trump is advocating mass deportations, while Vice President Kamala Harris has committed to reviving the bipartisan border security bill.
Cuban, who has been a vocal supporter of Harris’ campaign, has engaged in a social media spat with Miller since September 4.
The conflict centers on their differing views on trade matters concerning policy ahead of the November presidential election.
Miller said in a post on X in reply to comments from Cuban: “Deploying Title 42/Safe 3rds/Remain in Mexico/Asylum Bars to achieve a one hundred percent perfect deportation rate at the border, finishing the wall, significantly enhancing criminal penalties for human smuggling and trafficking, and launching a DOD embargo of drug vessels from South America.
“Terminating all of Kamala’s expedited entry and parole programs for illegals at the ports and by plane, terminating all Harris-imposed limits on ICE enforcement operations, restoring and expanding the terror travel ban, suspending refugee resettlement, and using 287(g) state and local partnerships in conjunction with federal law enforcement and DOD logistical support to carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in U.S. history.”
Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur known as one of the “sharks” on Shark Tank, has been defending Harris throughout the campaign as he is locked in a heated online dispute.
Miller is known for his hardline immigration policies during Trump’s presidency. Serving as a senior adviser, he was influential in shaping the administration’s stance on issues like the travel ban and family separations at the border.
His remarks were in response to a question by Cuban over further clarification regarding Trump’s flagship mass deportation policy.
Cuban said in a social media post: “Help me out, Stephen. Can you provide specific details on his immigration and deportation plans? I’ve just heard soundbites.”
Cuban has repeatedly endorsed Trump’s opponents during the last three presidential elections. In 2016, Cuban formally endorsed Hillary Clinton for the presidency when she ran against Trump and lost the election, despite winning the popular vote.
The reality star threw his support behind Trump’s Democratic opponents, Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024.
Harris campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz told Newsweek: “The only ‘plan’ Donald Trump has to secure our border is ripping mothers from their children. He tanked the bipartisan border security deal because, for Donald Trump, this has never been about solutions just running on a problem. Like everything with Donald Trump, it’s never been about helping the country; it’s only about helping himself.”
Newsweek reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
It comes after Trump warned that removing migrants from the country would be a “bloody story” if he’s reelected in November.
“And ya know getting them out will be a bloody story,” Trump told supporters on Saturday, referencing plans for large-scale removal of undocumented immigrants. “[They] should have never been allowed to come into our country. Nobody checked them.”
Hector Quiroga, an immigration attorney, told Newsweek the GOP is “tapping into the resentment of white males” towards migrants.
“I suspect Trump and Republicans generally are tapping into the resentment of white males in particular, who’ve seen their political and economic power decline in a diversifying world.
“Immigrants are just another group coming to take what they perceive as being “theirs.” Their attacks on Harris’ role as “border czar” fit nicely into that narrative because they claim she failed in that role, and now she’s the Democratic candidate for president. What’s more—she is a woman of color, the daughter of two immigrants, herself.”
“Biden’s asylum policy, whether you agree with it or not, has been very successful in doing what it was intended to do. It will be tough for Republicans to counter that success.”
Trump’s mass deportation policy has been criticized by House Republicans.
Rep. Tony Gonzales previously told Newsweek the U.S. lacks the necessary “infrastructure” to implement Trump’s proposed mass deportation plan.
Meanwhile, experts previously warned Trump’s mass deportation plan could cut half of the agricultural labor force if enacted and severely cripple America’s dairy industry.
Nearly half of agricultural workers in the U.S. are undocumented immigrants, and Trump’s controversial mass deportation plan could create major obstacles for America’s farmers.
